Taco Time NW App FAQ

Taco Time NW has partnered with LevelUp to create a custom mobile app for iPhone and Android phones. The new Taco Time app will combine the conveniences of a traditional website experience (menu, nutritional, and location information) with exciting new features such as mobile payment, rewards/loyalty, and digital Cactus Cards. TTNW APP

Q: Why should I download the app?
A: The Taco Time NW app lets you pay with your phone, allows you to send and receive digital Cactus Cards, and users are eligible for exclusive rewards through our Taco Time Rewards loyalty program.

Q: Is the Taco Time NW App accepted at all Taco Time locations?
A: Yes, you can find a list of locations here.

Q: Do I need a smartphone to participate?
A: Yes.

Q: What type of smartphone do you support?
A: The Taco Time NW app is available for Android (4.0.3 and up) and iPhone (iOS 7.0 or later).

Q: Is there a Windows Phone App?
A: Windows Phone is not currently supported.

Q: Do I need to be connected to the internet to pay with the Taco Time NW app?
A: No. A data or WiFi connection is not needed to pay with the Taco Time NW app. You will not, however, receive a receipt via push notification or email until you reconnect to the data or WiFi network. Also, some features of the app won't work as intended, including the Locations and Menu screens without a connection to the internet or data.

Q: Why do I only receive an email receipt when using the Taco Time NW App, and not a paper receipt?
A: Redundancy, mainly. You will receive an (almost) instant in-app notification detailing your purchase. You will also be emailed a receipt. A paper receipt may be available upon request at the point of sale.

Q: What if I need to contact Customer Service?
A: Guests can contact tacotimenw@thelevelup.com or 1.855.538.3542 for questions surrounding the Taco Time NW App.  For all other questions, please use our guest feedback portal.

YOUR ACCOUNT

Q: Do I have to link a debit/credit card to use the Taco Time NW App for mobile payments?
A: You can use many features of the App without linking a payment card, but you will not be able to pay or earn rewards unless you link a payment card to your account. You may link a Cactus Card and spend it at Taco Time without linking a debit/credit card.

Q: What kinds of payment cards can I link to my account?
A: Any card with a Visa, MasterCard, or American Express logo can be linked to the App. This includes credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards (prepaid credit, prepaid debit, gift cards). Additionally, you can link your Cactus Card to the app.

Q: Can I add money to my account on the new Taco Time NW app?
A: You don't have to! If you have linked a debit/credit card to the app, you will have the power of your wallet at your fingertips within your phone. No extra steps necessary.

Q: Where can I see my Taco Time NW transaction history?
A: Your transaction history is located in the App. You can access this by opening FEATURES and tapping Transaction History. You'll see a list showing the date & full order total of all transactions made with the App. Tap on any of these entries to view further details about the transaction such as time, location, and any credit that was applied to the purchase. Additionally, we send a receipt to your registered email address each time you pay with the Taco Time NW app. 

Q: Why have I been blocked from linking my card to my account?
A: By default Taco Time NW allows each credit or debit card to be linked to only one account. Our system blocks any card that has been previously been linked to another account. If you don’t think the card you've tried should be linked to any other account here are some reasons you might have run into the issue:

  • The Taco Time NW app leverages the LevelUp platform. You already have an alternative LevelUp account. If this is the case, simply log in with these credentials.
  • You share the card you’re attempting to link with someone else:

If you share a card with a spouse or family member and they’ve already linked the card to a Taco Time NW account of their own, you will be blocked from linking the card to your account. We’re happy to make exceptions in cases like this, we just need the person who linked the card first to send a confirmation email to tacotimenw@thelevelup.com
The email must come from the address they used to register their account and should include the last 4 digits of the card in question, the email address you use for your account, and a brief note authorizing the card to be used on an additional account. We require confirmation from the first person to link the card to their Taco Time NW account, even if this is not the cardholder.

Q: How do I reset my password?
A: Go to www.thelevelup.com/a/taco_time_nw, click on ACCOUNT and follow the simple on-screen instructions.

Q: How do I change the payment method linked to my account?
A: Simply open FEATURES and select Payment Method. If a payment method was already selected, your current default payment method will be shown. If a payment method has not yet been setup, you will be asked to add one by selecting 'Change Payment Method'. Tap the 'Change Payment Method' button and select any debit card or credit card. Fill in your card information (or scan your card in) and then tap the 'Link Card' button. Once added, it will be made your default payment method and will be shown on the main Payment Method screen.

Q: Can I make a purchase at Taco Time NW using a LevelUp merchant app?
A: Yes, but you will not be eligible for Rewards.

Q: What if my email address has already been taken?
A: If your email address is already taken, it is likely you have already created a Taco Time NW account, or you have created a LevelUp account in the past. Please use the password recovery tool to retrieve your credentials.  If you encounter any problems, please contact LevelUp Support at tacotimenw@thelevelup.com.

Q: Can I add Taco Time mobile payments to Passbook?
A: Yes.

CACTUS CARDS

Q: How do I check my Cactus Card balance?
A: Your balance is displayed on the PAY screen in your app.  We also have a balance lookup feature on our website here.

Q: I have a Cactus Card with the mag-stripe on the back. Is this still accepted at Taco Time?
A: Yes. We are phasing these cards out of our system, but you can still purchase with your legacy Cactus Card until you balance is zero, or transfer your balance to the TTNW app at any time.

Q: How do I transfer my physical Cactus Card to the app?
A: You can transfer your physical Cactus Card directly to your account by going to the FEATURES tab and selecting SCAN CACTUS CARD. If you have a legacy Cactus Card (with the mag-stripe on the back), you can transfer directly to the app by going to the FEATURES screen and selecting LEGACY CACTUS CARD.

Q: Do I have to link my Cactus Card? What are the benefits of linking my card to my account?
A: No, you do not have to link a Cactus Card. Linking a Cactus Card will make you eligible for Taco Time Rewards and allow you to use your Cactus Card as a form of payment via your phone.

Q: If I link my Cactus Card to the App, do I have to add a credit/debit card too?
A: No, you can use your Cactus Card to pay without linking a credit/debit card. When you spend the value of your Cactus Card down to $0, you may either buy and link a new Cactus Card or link an alternative payment method when you're ready.

Q: Can I link more than one physical and/or digital Cactus Card to my account at once?
A: Yes, you can link as many Cactus Cards to your account as you'd like.

Q: How do I spend my Cactus Card balance?
A: When you pay for purchases with the Taco Time NW App, your Cactus Card balance will be automatically deducted from the total cost of the transaction. If the transaction is less than the total Cactus Card balance available, the balance will remain on your account for future use. If the transaction is more than the total Cactus Card balance, you will be required to pay with an alternate payment source.

Q: If I have Rewards and a Cactus Card Balance. Which amount is deducted from my purchase first?
A: The spend hierarchy is as follows: Reward(s), then Cactus Card(s), and then linked payment method (credit or debit card linked). The Reward credit is spent first so that you are able to redeem any time sensitive promotions. Cactus Card balance will be deducted next, and finally we check for a linked payment method last.

Q: Can I buy and send a digital Cactus Card to a friend?
A: Yes. Simply select the Cactus Card tab in the Taco Time NW App and follow the on-screen instructions.

Q: Can I buy a digital Cactus Card for my friend and send it at a later date?
A: You cannot delay when a digital Cactus Card is sent at this time.

Q: Do digital Cactus Cards ever expire?
A: No. Your Cactus Cards will never expire.

Q: Is the new Taco Time Cactus Card good at all Taco Time locations?
A: Cactus Cards are redeemable at all Taco Time Northwest locations.  A list can be found here.

Q: What if I can’t or don’t want to download the app to my phone? Can I still use the new Cactus Card?
A: Absolutely. You can participate in our Cactus Card program any time.

TACO TIME REWARDS

Q: How do I participate in the Taco Time Rewards Program?
A: Simply download the Taco Time NW App from the Apple App Store or Android Play Store. Complete the registration to join Taco Time Rewards.

Q: How do I earn Rewards?
A: The more you eat at Taco Time, the faster the green cactus in your app will fill up. When you spend $100, the cactus fills to 100%, and we’ll give you $5.

Q: What are the other benefits of joining Taco Time Rewards and how do I receive them?
A: Every now and then we’ll offer you fun Rewards in the form of credit that you can spend at Taco Time. These Rewards may be published on our social media channels, emailed to you, or (our favorite), dropped into your app as a surprise. Rewards can come in many shapes and sizes, and we aim to offer these to you on special dates (Welcome Rewards and Anniversary Rewards) and when you least expect it (Thank You Rewards and Happy Hour Rewards).

Q: Do Rewards ever expire?
A: Yes and no. Some Rewards will expire after a short amount of time.  The Reward received for earning loyalty progress does not expire. Reward expiration dates are displayed in the Rewards screen of your app.

Q: Do I need to pay for purchases through the app to earn rewards?
A: Yes.  Only registered Taco Time NW account holders can earn rewards.

Q: How do I spend my Rewards balance?
A: When you pay with the Taco Time NW App, your Rewards balance will be automatically deducted from the total cost of the transaction. If the transaction is less than the total Rewards balance available, the balance will remain on your account for future use. If the transaction is more than the total Rewards balance, you will be required to pay with an alternate payment source.

PRIVACY AND SECURITY

Q: Is my data shared?
A: No. We never sell your personal information to any third parties. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Q: Is my data/information secure?
A: Yes. We take the security of your personal information very seriously. Your credit card information is transmitted by SSL directly to a secure electronic vault. At no time is your credit card information stored on our servers. Additionally, we never sell your personal information to any third parties, For more information please check out the full Privacy Policy and Security page.

Q: Is it safe for me to give you my credit card information and store it in my phone?
A: Taco Time NW does not store credit card information on your phone or in the app. Your card information is stored securely on a separate server. The QR code you use to pay for your food simply connects the purchase price with your account through the LevelUp scanner. At no point during the transaction is your credit card information transmitted, stored, or displayed on your phone, our registers, or within the LevelUp scanner itself. Your information is safely stored in an encrypted database that uses the same privacy and security measures as your bank.

Q: What if my phone is lost or stolen? Will someone have access to my bank account?
A: The TTNW App utilizes the LevelUp platform, a secure payment system, so stopping any activity on your account is simple. Taco Time NW App users that lose their phone should log-in to their account at www.thelevelup.com/a/taco_time_nw and select the “Deactivate” tab. This will initiate a forced log-out and reset the payment token. The Taco Time NW account will remained locked until the intended user manually enters their password again.

Q: How do I reset my QR Code?
A: Resetting your LevelUp QR Code is simple. Log in to your account at www.thelevelup.com/a/taco_time_nw
and click on the 'Deactivate' tab on the left side of page. Click on 'Deactivate' next to the Taco Time NW App listed on this page. Clicking Deactivate will generate a new QR Code for you to pay with and ensure that your old QR Code will no longer work. It will also log out your account on all devices.

Q: How do I add a PIN lock to my app and what if I forget it?
A: To enable this feature on the app, select FEATURES, and then ENABLE PIN LOCK. Enter a four digit PIN, then confirm this entry. When the PIN Lock is enabled, this four digit PIN will be required to access the app.

Due to our aggressive security measures designed to keep your payment information safe, it is not possible to re-claim a security PIN within the Taco Time NW App.

On iOS and Android, you can enter an incorrect PIN 8 times and be brought to a “force log out” screen. Once logged out, enter your credentials (UN & PW) to log back in and set a new PIN.
