That Soft Taco you’re about to dig into? We make it fresh to order with just-delivered vegetables that we chopped by hand, pinto beans we cooked this morning, and tortillas delivered straight from a local maker.
Since 1962, in fact.
Can you imagine a world without Mexi-Fries® or Crisp Tacos? We can’t either. Thankfully, our founder, Frank Tonkin Sr. realized the potential of the Mexican fast food category when he opened his first Taco Time in White Center. With the goal of becoming one of the best Mexican food restaurants in Washington State, his second Seattle area restaurant followed one year later in 1963. Now, 50 years
later, his passion clearly lives on with 74 local restaurants throughout the Puget Sound area spanning from Lynden to Longview (and east to Moses Lake and East Wenatchee).
Largely owned and operated by family members, Taco Time Northwest became an independent operation in 1979 with Frank Tonkin becoming the franchisor for the region. Over the years, the Tonkin family has seen their company become a
Northwest icon in the face of growing competition from National chains and continues to uphold the same high
standards maintained since the opening of their original
restaurant.
A company culture based on strong family values and local sensibilities, Taco Time has evolved over the years. Yet one thing has not wavered – our commitment to serving fresh, healthy fast food made from the best ingredients available.
In fact, in an age when most fast food restaurants merely assemble your food rather than actually make it, you might be pleasantly surprised to know how much we make from scratch right here, and that many of our ingredients are fresh, unprocessed, and local. It’s all part of serving Puget Sound’s indigenous taco.
Something we’ve done, well...
Every single day. Since 1962.
