Fifty amazing years and counting

The year was 1962—the World's Fair was in Seattle, but across town in White Center, Frank Tonkin Sr. opened something equally (okay, almost) as impressive—his first Taco Time restaurant. Fifty years later, the same family and the same passion for fresh, delicious Mexican food still guides us. We're proud to be a Northwest institution, and we look forward to the next 50 years and beyond. So thanks for dining with us, and we hope to see you cruising through our drive-thru enjoying the same experience in say 2062?

Meet the locals

We’ve been sourcing local since long before it was the popular thing to do. In fact, many of our ingredients come from Washington State. Our beef, pinto beans, and Mexi-Fries™, all local. Our Cheddar cheese even comes from a little Washington town called Sunnyside (seriously—we couldn’t make this stuff up).

Clean, green, delicious

As a local, Northwest company, (and concerned inhabitants of this lovely planet we all live on) we think reducing our footprint is pretty darn important. That’s why we’ve made a healthy investment in compostable packaging—we even challenged our suppliers to see what new ideas we can develop to help keep those landfills, well...unfull. It’s also why we source many of our ingredients from Washington state, supporting local merchants and making sure our food doesn’t travel much farther than you do. So please enjoy. Compost and recycle. Thanks.

Three cheers for our people

While our fresh, local ingredients make our food delicious, we owe a great deal of our success (and your enjoyment) to our friendly, caring employees. We work hard to make Taco Time as great a place to work as it is to eat, and as a result we’re lucky to have loyal employees that stick around for many years. (How many restaurants can actually say that?) So, a huge thanks to all our employees, old and new. We couldn’t do it without them.

Are you from around here?

If you are, you know what it’s like to be a proud Northwest native. (If you’re not, welcome! You’ll be one of us in no time.) As a local, family-owned and operated company, we make it a priority to give back to the Northwest communities where our guests and employees live and work. Through our fundraising efforts, we’re honored to have donated nearly $2 million to over 600 different charities in Western Washington over the past decade. And that’s just a start. Thanks to our loyal guests for being part of it all.
